Milton Ospina

opsina­Mr. Ospina is currently a Business Development Manager for NAVTEQ, promoting ­the use of navigatable data and other geospatial dynamic content in government and industry in an enterprise setting.­­

Mr. Ospina is the former ESRI Urban & Regional Planning and Economic Development Solutions Manager advancing the use of GIS at the state and local government level. Mr. Ospina received a Master of Community and Regional Planning degree with a focus on geographic information systems (GIS), land use, and low-income housing development from the University of New Mexico in 1992 where he assisted with a two year Ford Foundation funded program evaluation of  Rocky Mountain Institute's (RMI) Economic Renewal Program in Alamosa, Colorado.­

Mr. Ospina is the co-author of the ESRI Press Measuring Up: The Business Case for GIS.  He has also co-authored a "GIS in Planning" chapter on the book entitled Planning and Urban Design Standards published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Mr. Ospina travels frequently in the U.S and abroad to speak about the role of GIS in government, the benefits of GIS, enterprise GIS, and the role Public Participation GIS (PPGIS) and GIS-based Planning Support Systems (PSS) play in improving the quality of life of our communities and in enhancing the planning process.
